Storybook with AI
AI-assisted Storytelling Therapy Workshop
Target group: seniors 55+
Duration: 60–75 min
Objective: exploring creativity and memories through personal stories, transformed with the help of AI into artistic texts.
Workshop structure
1. Introduction and warm-up (10 min)
Activity: Greeting circle and short memory exercise: everyone says a word that reminds them of childhood.
Aim: creating a relaxing atmosphere and opening the channels of affective memory.
2. Generating the personal story (15 min)
Activity: The facilitator asks simple, evocative questions:
“What is your favorite childhood memory?”
“Tell me about a place where you felt happy.”
“What did your grandfather teach you that you have never forgotten?”
Seniors tell stories in a circle or in turn, with the freedom to be listened to without judgment.
Purpose: activating autobiographical memory and expressing emotions.
3. Story transformation with the help of AI (20 min)
Activity:
The facilitator briefly notes the seniors' answers.
He/she introduces them into ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini with a prompt like:
"Rewrite this memory as a small literary story for children / as a poem / as a story with a happy ending."
AI generates an artistic text.
The text is read aloud and discussed: "Do you recognize your story? How does it sound now?"
Purpose: valorizing the personal story → transforming it into an artistic creation, giving the satisfaction of being an "author".
4. Creative reflection (15 min)
Activity: Seniors choose a title for their transformed story.
They can create a "collective book" together with the titles and stories (using Gamma.app or Canva).
Purpose: feeling of belonging and recognition of their own creativity.
5. Relaxing Wrap-up (5–10 min)
Activity: Collective reading of an AI-generated story from the words spoken at the beginning.
A short feedback round: “How would you feel today?”
Goal: Integrate emotions and end on a positive note.
Resources needed
Laptop/tablet with access to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
Projector or speakers (optional, to read/listen to collective stories).
Paper + pens for jotting down ideas.
Benefits for seniors
Stimulate autobiographical memory and strengthen personal identity.
Improve self-esteem (their stories become artistic texts).
Socialize and connect by sharing personal experiences.
Relax emotionally through creative expression and group validation.
Tutorial for Seniors – How to Make a Storybook with Google Gemini and Send It to Your Friends
Step 1 – Log in to Google Gemini
Open your computer, tablet or phone.
Go to the internet (Google Chrome).
In the search bar, type: gemini.google and press Enter.
If you are not logged in, click Sign in and log in with your Gmail address.
Step 2 – Choose to create a Storybook
In the main Gemini window, type in the box at the bottom (prompt):
“Create a children’s Storybook about an adventurous cat who discovers friendship.”
Press Enter or the arrow button (send the message).
Gemini will start creating the story.
Step 3 – The story is automatically generated
Gemini makes a storybook with 10 pages, each with:
short text (the story)
an AI-illustrated image
audio option (voice reading the story)
You can read page by page and enjoy the story.
Step 4 – Customize the story
If you want to change something, write again in Gemini:
“Make the story funnier.”
“Add a happy ending.”
“Draw the pictures in watercolor style.”
Gemini automatically modifies the story according to your wishes.
Step 5 – Save or share
Below the story, you will see the Share button.
Click on it → Gemini gives you a link.
Copy the link (with Copy) and then:
by email (Gmail),
or on Facebook Messenger.
Your friends can read the story directly from the link, without making any changes.
Tips for seniors
Choose themes close to your soul (childhood stories, animals, nature, friendship).
You can make a Storybook for your grandchildren and read it together with them.
If you find it difficult to write long, write just a few words (e.g. "story about a teddy bear and friendship") - Gemini completes the rest.
Don't be afraid to repeat commands or ask for changes - AI is a patient helper.
Benefits of the activity
Stimulation of creativity and memory.
Possibility to share stories with family and friends.
Relaxing and fun activity.
